La industria del entretenimiento ha sabido llegar a todos los públicos y a casi cualquier lugar del mundo. Sus extraordinarias producciones nos han enamorado gracias a la originalidad de sus guiones y al buen hacer de sus protagonistas.

Sin lugar a dudas esto también es una consecuencia de la globalización, que nos ha permitido conocer más allá de los grandes productos de entretenimiento norteamericanos a los que estábamos acostumbrados, al abrir nuevas ventanas para disfrutar de grandes producciones europeas y asiáticas. Por ejemplo, nos hemos familiarizado con Bollywood: término acuñado en los años 70 para referirnos a la industria cinematográfica de la India y, en las últimas décadas, lo hemos hecho con las producciones chinas, japonesas y coreanas. Este es el caso de los C-Dramas, J-DramasyK-Dramas, que han llenado los hogares europeos y también los de América con sus simpáticas y a veces dramáticas historias.

Toca ahora preguntarnos por el significado de esas expresiones, pero antes es necesario entender qué significa el término “dorama”.

“Dorama” es el resultado de la traducción de “drama” del idioma japonés (J-Drama). Ese término se utiliza en Japón para referirse a películas, telefilmes, vídeos y series de televisión producidas en ese país. De allí también derivan las denominaciones C-Drama y K-Drama. Ambas hacen alusión a series o novelas originarias de China, la primera, y de Corea, la segunda. Por lo general no superan los 20 capítulos y en su mayoría son protagonizadas por actores jóvenes. Habitualmente, estas producciones se refieren a temas de interés popular: romance, historia, intriga, comedia y fantasía, habiendo alcanzando gran popularidad en los últimos tiempos.

Los C-Dramas, J-Dramas y K-Dramas han resultado ser escenarios versátiles para aprender las culturas china, japonesa y coreana.
